Evan has represented numerous clients in notable matters spanning a broad range of legal issues.

Here are a few examples of the different types of cases and successful results Evan has achieved:

Peter Colombo v. Palo Alto Unified School District – Obtained a $3.25 Million Settlement from the client’s California public school district employer for retaliation/civil rights violations relating to their mistreatment of the client, a tenured PE teacher with seniority (27 years of service at the district) who had been falsely accused of a sexual assault allegedly occurring more than 20 years previous. After the unsubstantiated criminal charges were dropped, assisted the client to renew his teaching credential by representing him through a “formal review” by the California Commission for Teacher Credentialing (CTC). Then also represented him during the school district’s subsequent “investigation” and prosecuted his civil claims all the way through trial preparation before the matter settled on the eve of trial.

Successfully restored CalPERS retirement benefits (full pension and medical benefits) for retired police officer (30 years of service) and his wife after CalPERS initiated formal review and took actions against his pension, including cancelling his pension and medical benefits without providing him due process and before he was allowed to present his case through a hearing. Resolution included restoration of the client’s full pension and benefits and dismissal of CalPERS’ claim attempting to require the client to repay more than $1 Million of pension amounts previously paid to him.

Obtained a $500,000 settlement of an alleged elder abuse and wrongful death claim.

Obtained a $475,000 settlement for a company’s removal of shareholder rights and devaluation of preferred shares of company stock.

Assisted 5 different families to remove their loved ones from private fiduciary ran conservatorships, allowing family members to assume responsibilities for the care of their own mother/father/spouse.

Defended a landowner against civil enforcement actions prosecuted by District Attorneys on behalf of California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) and California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFIRE), which were attempting to prevent the client’s use of a road on his property that is the only vehicular access between the two parcels of his land.

Prosecuted inverse condemnation actions for landowners against municipalities and quasi-governmental utility concerns.
